We think job interviews should leave you pumped, not exhausted.
Between the two of us, we've seen interviews from every possible angle. Kate hired dozens of people as a manager. Pawel? He was basically a professional interviewee – freelancing meant pitching himself constantly, plus clients kept pulling him in to help interview their own candidates.
You know what drove us crazy and broke our hearts at the same time? Watching really talented people completely bomb at selling themselves. They had the skills. They had great stories. They just couldn't get them across. Or they'd read too many "tips" from the Internet and tried so hard to be "professional" that their actual personality disappeared.
As freelancers, we were interviewing all the time – sometimes multiple times a week. You'd think we'd hate it, but we actually got pretty good at it. Not because we memorized perfect answers, but because we figured out something simple: clients hired us when we showed up as ourselves. Not perfect versions, not robot versions – just us, being genuinely interested in their problems and easy to work with.
One night, after Pawel wrapped up yet another interview (he got the gig, but man was he drained), we looked at each other and said: "This shouldn't be this hard."
So we built something. First just for us – a way to prep that didn't feel like cramming for an exam. Something that helped us show up as ourselves, just... clearer. More confident. Less likely to blank out when someone asks "tell me about yourself."
Turns out, our friends wanted in. Then their friends. And here we are.
We built HintCraft for ourselves first. After fumbling through too many interviews, we figured out a system that actually worked. Then friends started noticing – we were landing jobs we genuinely wanted, not just settling for whatever came along.
"What's your secret?" they kept asking. So we'd grab coffee and share what we learned: how to talk about yourself without sounding fake, how to turn nervous energy into genuine enthusiasm, how to actually enjoy the conversation instead of just surviving it.
After the tenth coffee chat, we thought: why not build something that helps everyone do this?
Here's the thing – we're not trying to turn you into the "perfect candidate." That person doesn't exist anyway. We just want to help you show up as yourself and nail it.
Think about it: right now, there are literally hundreds of companies looking for someone with your exact mix of skills and personality. They just don't know you exist yet. Or maybe you've met them, but couldn't quite articulate why you're perfect for each other.
That's where we come in. No scripts, no one-size-fits-all answers, no corporate jargon. Just tools that help you figure out your own story and tell it well.
We've been in your shoes – the pre-interview anxiety, the awkward small talk, the "why did I say that?" moments. We built HintCraft because we believe interviews can actually be... dare we say it... fun? Or at least not terrifying.
